Ice Skating

Our vacation up to Idaho had a few little detours in Utah. On our way up, we celebrated my niece's 7th birthday by going ice skating at Seven Peaks. I hadn't been since they had a meager outdoor skating rink---this one was indoor and so nice! It was great fun.

I hadn't planned on Julie going skating with us, but she was quite adamant about doing what the rest of us were doing. I asked about skates, thinking they would not carry such a small size, but they did! She thought they were great until we got on the ice...then she didn't want me to help her because she MUST do everything herself...a couple of falls later, she was done and hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa.

These are the kinds of pictures I never get---no kids, just me with my mom and sister. I love it. It was so fun to see everyone and hang out for a while. It was a good break from the norm.

Baby, It's Cold Inside!

The way I grew up and the way I live now are very different. One of these ways is the inside temperature. I grew up in Idaho---it got COLD. However, every time I walked in my house, it was warm and cozy. I loved being inside my house.

10 years ago, I married a man from California, and his parents lived with the theory that if you are cold, put on a sweater. Fine. Obviously, Brian shares these same views.

When we moved down to South Pasadena, we never used heat. Ever. One time Brian came home from school to find me in my huge parka and gloves, and Samantha dressed the same. At that point, we got a space heater. It was awesome.

Now things have changed and we own 2 space heaters....but it is still far from the balmy house I lived in up north. I am just reflecting because we recently returned from a vacation in Idaho where it was freezing outside, and nice and warm inside...how ironic that today I sit in nice, sunny California and am freezing inside my apartment.

The Dentist

Brian has been on vacation the past couple of weeks, so we have been having fun and doing lots of neglected things, like going to the dentist. This was Landon's first visit, and I expected him to be nervous...but he was curious instead. He wanted explanations for everything and was especially interested in the dentist's tools. The appointment was great for him and for Brian. Both boys came home with clean, happy teeth. However, my appointment was filled with words like decay, erosion, and other fun-filled expressions that you would just LOVE your dentist to say in regard to YOUR teeth. I left with my angry, unhealthy, decay-ridden teeth and one of many future appointments. I hate dentists. No offense.

BOSU

I got my own class at the Y! Yippee! I got to pick what I wanted the class to be (kind of, since they wouldn't let me do step right before another step class). SO...I picked a combo class of cardio and sculpting using this great thing called a BOSU. It is half a ball set on a flat surface, and it is awesome!
I used it in my class tonight. The workout is so good. Everything you do is hard because of the instability of the ball. I love, love, love it! You should come too. :)
